My story
The power of serving well
A business belongs, in a sense, to the society it serves. Its profit is the thanks it earns for making everyday life better.
Kamran Pitafi
I'm Kamran Pitafi, a business leader, author and mentor with over 23 years of experience across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. My work sits where manufacturing, distribution and the customer meet, and I have spent my career growing businesses, partnerships and the teams that deliver them.
I began in software. At Softronix, and then at Farahat & Co after moving to Dubai, I worked in business development and quality control for ERP solutions. In 2005 I joined LG Electronics Gulf, and in 2007 Panasonic Marketing Middle East & Africa, where I spent nineteen years. I joined as an Area Sales Executive and grew into the role of Business Head, leading a team of 60+ across 10+ markets and serving partners in 22 countries. The work covered market expansion, turnarounds, product launches and partnerships in consumer electronics and home appliances. That chapter concluded in March 2026.
One of its most meaningful parts was leading localisation projects in the Middle East, bringing air conditioners and LED televisions into local production with a manufacturing partner. Getting manufacturers, sales teams, distributors and service networks to work as one taught me a principle I still follow: growth lasts only when the whole business delivers for the customer, and when everyone involved shares the goal and the credit.
My studies in economics, computer science, and computing and statistical management shaped how I lead. I look for clear direction, commercial discipline and decisions based on evidence, and I hold to fair, honest dealing with every partner, whatever the size of the deal. I listen closely to the people nearest the market, respect the different ways people and cultures work, and give them the confidence and authority to act. Markets and technology never stand still, so I try to keep adapting how I think and work rather than defending what worked yesterday.
Writing is how I keep learning, and how I share what this work has taught me. I am the author of The Manufacturing-to-Market Framework and The D2C Excellence Framework. My research, published in the American Journal of Industrial and Business Management, The American Journal of Interdisciplinary Innovations and Research and the International Journal of Research in Commerce and Management Studies, looks at how distribution partners coordinate and adapt, how a recovery in total sales can hide gaps across a product portfolio, and when artificial intelligence can support commercial decisions in manufacturing.
Experience is worth most when it is shared, so I mentor founders through Plan9, BNU Innovatrium and the National Incubation Center Lahore. I have judged the IPP-US New Venture Contest and serve as a judge for the 2026 Global Recognition Awards. I have also served as Chairperson of the Governing Board at The City School International, Dubai Campus, and I am a Charter Member of Open Dallas.
Outside work, family, travel and the road keep me curious. For over a decade I have ridden with the H.O.G. Dubai Chapter as Lead Captain and Road Marshal, where leading a group means preparing well and making sure everyone gets home safely. As a husband and father, I value the time and experiences we share, and I remain grateful to the family, colleagues, partners and mentors who made this journey possible.
Today I focus on international trade and distribution partnerships, business development and advisory work, and speaking. If you are working on something in those areas, I would be glad to talk.
